Frequently Asked Questions

How do I Register for the Annual General Assembly?

If you are eligible to be a Registered AGA Delegate, please contact your Regional Coordinator and they will complete your registration with you.

Am I eligible to become a Registered Delegate?

Active Local Executive members are eligible and are encouraged to participate. Additional attendees may attend by invitation only as may be required.

What happens once I register as a Delegate?

Once you Register with your Regional Coordinator, you will receive a confirmation email that you are registered.  24 hours prior to the start of the conference you will receive an email with detailed instructions on how to connect to the conference. Please contact your Regional Coordinator.

What is a Virtual Annual General Assembly?

A virtual meeting is hosted entirely over the Internet. It will allow our Delegates to access the meeting live and hear presentations from their computers. Attendees participate through a Zoom Meeting designed specifically for the virtual conference. This site is where you can watch the AGA online.

What platform will be used to host the Annual General Assembly?

MMF will be using Zoom to host this Annual General Meeting.  Zoom is a free online video conferencing platform.

What are the Technical Requirements I need to participate?

To participate, you need an Internet connection and web browser. For the best viewing experience, we recommend that you join the conference using a supported internet browser, which includes Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Internet Explorer is not recommended as some functions are not fully supported.

Do I need a Zoom Account to participate if I am a Registered Delegate?

Yes!  All Delegates must have a Zoom account.  It’s fine to have the free version.  This is a security issue as MMF and Zoom need to verify the email address being used is a working, viable email.  Go to zoom.us to sign up for Zoom.

Do I need a Zoom Account if I just want to watch the Annual General Assembly online?

No! A streaming version of the Annual General Assembly will be available on this website, MMF.MB.CA, Facebook Live, and our Youtube channel.

Are there other ways to participate if I don’t have a computer?

Yes. Zoom meetings can be attended over the Telephone. Please contact your Regional Coordinator if you are a Delegate and can only access the AGA via Dial In over the Telephone. Please note that participation features are greatly limited in this mode. The following commands can be entered using your phone’s dial pad while in a Zoom meeting:

  • *6 – Toggle mute/unmute (mute will be controlled by MMF during the AGA)
  • *9 – Raise hand
Are there options for Accessibility?

Zoom has several options available to users who require Accessibility features. The MMF Annual General Assembly will feature Closed Captioning and In Meeting Support, as well as the AGA Hotline.

How fast does my internet connection have to be to participate?

Zoom recommends a minimum internet speed of 1.5 megabits per second (mbps). If you plan to use Zoom at home, you can test your internet speed by going to http://www.speedtest.net

How do I use Zoom?

With people across the world working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, video conferencing tools like Zoom have become extremely popular. However, if you’ve never used Zoom before, understanding it might be challenging. Please click here to view our Support page or visit Zoom’s Video Tutorials.

What if I live in a Northern Community without high speed internet?

Providing reliable, high-speed internet to remote parts of the Province has been a challenge for years, and the COVID-19 pandemic has created a renewed sense of urgency for the MMF Government to solve it.

While we cannot support internet access in peoples homes where there is no current infrastructure, we are making arrangements for participation via regional offices throughout Manitoba in accordance with Covid-19 Restrictions. For more information please contact your Regional Coordinator.
